A collection of writing in honour of renowned sociologist Bridget Fowler, whose work has focused on social theory, Marxist-feminism and the sociology of culture.
The editors of this festschrift note: “It’s been a privilege to work with such an engaged group of colleagues to bring together this collection of essays in honour of Bridget Fowler’s sustained contribution to our sociological understanding. The pieces gathered here follow in the footsteps of her lifelong determination to shed light on social and cultural inequalities of different kinds. Contributors bring that critical concern to bear in their discussions of the worlds of wine, dance, photography, poetry, translation and modern art, and offer new historical insight into the ways in which classed, gendered and racialised inequalities have been reproduced and resisted in different settings.”
The volume features contributions from Gisele Sapiro, Alison Eldridge and Andy Smith, Les Back, Bridget Fowler, Lito Tsitsou, David Inglis and Anna-Mari Almila, Alex Law, Tim Winzler, Kieran Durkin, Maude Bracke, Esperança Bielsa, Robert Gibb and Leslie Sklair.
